I’m Back

Made it back from 10 days in Brazil, peacock fishing! The first thing I’d say is, it’s a very safe and exciting trip. I was worried about travel, bugs and diseases, and I never got 1 mosquito bite deep in the Amazon. Fishing wise, they said it was slow because of high water, but I got a couple 10 pounders, and caught all sorts of different species. Steve at Adventure was a great host. and we ate and drank like kings. I haven’t got my pictures ready yet, but just wanted to let you all know it was a special trip with a great group of guys! Fill ya in more later this week.

Brazil

I’m packing right now for a dream trip of a lifetime to the Amazon and huge peacock bass! I cut it close, my visa just showed up, two days before we leave, but it made it. Skeet Reese masterminded this trip with Roy Halliday of the Phillies. I know world champ Chris Carpenter, of the Cardinals and BJ Ryan of the Blue Jays are also going. I just got some R2S wideglides, to throw for the peacocks. I’m just real excited to see Brazil and the Amazon, regardless of the fishing. It’s gonna be tough leaving Amy and TJ for 10 days, but she knows what a great trip this will be. I’ll let you know all the details when I return!!

Spent the last 3 days working the FLW college regional as a camera boat. Had a great time watching these young guys attack Saguaro lake. It was tough on most of them, but a few figured it out. What a tremendous opportunity, that the National Guard sponsors! What a great group of guys, their enthusiasm was
contageous. Thanks FLW for hosting such a great event in Arizona!

Great bait!

This week, I wanted to let you know of a great little bait made by River2sea. It is the Tango prop, and comes in two sizes, big and smaller. Both work well, but the smaller Tango prop has been a great producer for me and my guide trips! For three weeks now, I have been letting my clients use them, and they have been really working well. My clients have ranged for first timers, to moderate experience, and that bait has been magic. It is always difficult for beginners to catch fish on buzzbaits ( which has been the bite), but with the tango prop, they have been successful every time. So if you are looking for a great little topwater to catch fish, check out the Tango prop ( all the colors are excellent) on R2S website and order some from the Hook-up, you will like the results!

Roosevelt

Posted by John Murray | Miscellaneous | Monday 24 October 2011 6:59 am

I’ve been guiding and fishing Roosevelt for the last two weeks. Although my tournaments weren’t that good, the fishing has been outstanding. The big ones are shallow, and there are huge numbers deep. If you have ever wanted to learn deep fishing, now is the time! If you want a great guide trip, just get ahold the The Hook-up, and they’ll get it booked!
