Lanier day one

Fun, but cold and windy day! I had no keepers a 9:36 and a limit at 10:10. It happens fast here. My first keeper pulled my chatterbait off a snag on a big log, better lucky than good. I kept 3 spots and 2 lm and weighed 12.26 and am in 13th. More of the same tomorrow, chatterbaits, jerkbaits and shakey worms.

Lanier

Made it to lake Lanier for the PAA event next week. Beautiful campground on the lake, but alot of rain and cold. There are two great playgrounds here for TJ to play in, weather permitting. Amy and I found a great sushi resturant for a nice break from cooking. TJ’s grandma and aunt will be here tuesday, so should be a great week. This is one of the few popular lakes that I’ve never fished, so I’m looking forward to catching those big spots!!

St Johns final

Another Florida tourney, another 47th place finish. At least I’m consistant! I caught a nice 3lber early flippin, then nothing till after 2pm. All my shallow fish moved out and guys like Todd Faircloth wacked em. I did find two 7lbers and worked em for over two hours each, and never caught them. Either one would have moved me way up, and both probably would have made the final cut. Now we’ll take this week off, and head to Georgia for the PAA event on Lanier, another lake that I’ve never seen. We are going to take TJ out in the boat here and show him some manatees, they are huge!

St Johns Day three

Another 7 pounder saved the day! I didn’t have a fish at 10:30 and went by a bed with a giant. As I turned the boat to set up to sight fish, I made a long cast with a canyon lures gitzit, and she ate it first cast. Then the pressure was on to fill out my limit. I found a few small keepers close by that were in 1 to 2 ft of water and were very aggressive. About 1:30, I found an aggressive 3lber. Ike was fishing just outside me and caught a couple small ones as I fished for the bigger one. Finally I hooked him, and after a couple strong runs, he jumped off! I never moved, and just kept fishing for him and 45 minutes later he bit, and I put him in the boat, a $10,000 fish! We just had burgers at the motorhome and TJ played with his friend, Ella, life can’t get much better than this!!!

Harris final

It looked good, the pond that I fished the first 2 days was finally calm. But that was the only good thing in the pond. After 2 hours of throwing a chatterbait and flipping, I had no bites. I decided to go to another canal that had been good in the past. I caught a quick 2 keepers, then decided to gamble and go to an area that had some big bed fish early in the week. It was over an hour away, and would only leave an hour to fish. Bad decision , after getting there, it was devoid of any life, so the gamble lost! Caught one more small one on the way in, so ended in 47th, $10,000, and on the way to the St. Johns river.
