Marks Outdoors

I am here in Alabama for the Marks outdoors tourney. About 15 pros fish this with about 500 other boats! There are many family teams here, even with the tornado destruction all around. Last week was not the week to be in the south, I’m sure glad to live in Arizona! Amy and TJ are already over at West Point, and I will be heading there right after weigh-in. Should be fun tomorrow on Lay lake, then serious next week in Ga. Not much service next week, so my reports will be few and quick. I’m ready to get fishin’!

Battle on the Bayou at Toledo Bend – Day 2 / Final

Day one fizzled, day 2 started great! First fish was a 7 lber! That was the highlight, all the next ones were just keepers. I moved shallow and pitched a d/s Roboworm to grass lines. I ended up in 60th about 1 1/2 lbs out of the cut. Very tough to take. We are flying to Phoenix for Easter with my mom, can’t wait!!! Then we will regroup and attack the second half of our journey.

Battle on the Bayou at Toledo Bend – Day 1

Not much service here, hope this works. One good day of practice, one bad. Caught many small keepers, but one about 10lbs and one at 5lbs. Gonna try to find more areas tomorrow, just gotta stay on big ones!!!!

Alabama Charge at Pickwick Lake – Day 1 & 2 / Final

Very disappointing!! I really felt good about my practice here, so weighing exactly the same 12-7 limits each day was frustrating. The funny thing is that I fished two different ends of the lake for the same weight! I caught alot of fish each day, just never caught a big one. Flipping and blades worked well, just not my week. Today we are off to Toledo Bend for the next tourney. You have to have a short term memory loss, and just get ready for the next event. The last time I fished at Toledo, I won by 17lbs, so I’ll have some good memories there. Now it’s time to drive both rigs the 10 hours to Texas!!

Lanier wrap up / Pickwick prefish

Scraped up a 9.60 limit the last day in GA, and ended up in 6th place. What an enjoyable tournament on a great lake!

Now we are over at Pickwick lake in Alabama. The 1st day of prefish was tough (fishing and being tired), but today was good. Caught a couple 5lbers and quite a few keepers, so starting to put together something. We have tornado warnings and flash floods, so everybody is off the water this afternoon. This lake has huge smallmouths in it, but all my fish have been LM.

One more prefish day, then the tourney, I’m ready!!
