I’m packing right now for a dream trip of a lifetime to the Amazon and huge peacock bass! I cut it close, my visa just showed up, two days before we leave, but it made it. Skeet Reese masterminded this trip with Roy Halliday of the Phillies. I know world champ Chris Carpenter, of the Cardinals and BJ Ryan of the Blue Jays are also going. I just got some R2S wideglides, to throw for the peacocks. I’m just real excited to see Brazil and the Amazon, regardless of the fishing. It’s gonna be tough leaving Amy and TJ for 10 days, but she knows what a great trip this will be. I’ll let you know all the details when I return!!
Spent the last 3 days working the FLW college regional as a camera boat. Had a great time watching these young guys attack Saguaro lake. It was tough on most of them, but a few figured it out. What a tremendous opportunity, that the National Guard sponsors! What a great group of guys, their enthusiasm was
contageous. Thanks FLW for hosting such a great event in Arizona!
Went to Roosevelt last Monday, and had the toughest prefish day, but decided to fish the tournament anyway! The forecast was for a huge cold front, so changing conditions are always good. As we pulled up to where I wanted to start, there were two boats already there, so I ran across to a nearby point. On Steve’s second cast, he catches a 3lb smallie on a small crankbait. I caught a couple good ones on a swimbait, and then we moved out to 55 feet, and really started to catch them! Dropshotting wave finesse worms real slow was the key. After about 11, the deep bite slowed, so we went shallow, flippin and throwing R2S blades. Ended up catching quite a few, and had three “good ones”. We weighed 15.4, with a 4.5 bigfish and won the tourney! We want to thank Justin for running a smooth event, and posting the results so quick, very refreshing compared to other TD’s in the area. Heading to Alamo next week, haven’t been there in a year, so should be interesting!
