LaCrosse final

Finally, a money finish! Again had a poor first day, due to an idiot that anchored on my best spot! The second day was better ( the dude missed the lock) and I was culling in the first hour. I ended up 24th, and missed the top 10 by one pound! I fished the college tournament the next day, and drew the team from Illinois, and had a great time watching them attack the river. Now it’s a week off to get ready for the last two weeks in New York and final shot to make the Classic. Cayuga and Oneida here we come!!

St Clair finale

Another tough finish, but an awesome week of fishing! I caught hundreds of smallies this week, but never figured out the big ones. Had a couple nice articles come out on Bassfan and Bassmaster on my RA, but now I’m ready to get some stories on my fishingl Now off to Lacrosse for an Everstart with a 3 fish limit, that should be interesting!

Northern open practice

I’m sitting here in the motorhome, waiting out a huge lightning storm on the last day of practice. Wow, what a fishery, I’ve caught over 150 smallies in the last three days! Also, 3 muskies, up to about 25lbs! This is truly one of the best places in the country to fish. My biggest smallie was about 5 lbs, and it swam up to the boat in real clear water and started to swim away, so i threw a roboworm in front of it, and it ate it. I haven’t really figured out the 4lb plus fish yet, but catching 2-3lbers has been easy. I’m gonna spend this afternoon out on the river, looking for the bigger ones!

Lake St Clair

We just pulled in to the KOA near the lake, getting ready for the BASS northern open. I haven’t been to St. Clair for over a decade, so I’m anxious to fish it again. They say it’s way better, but it was fun back then. I’m gonna test my new bumbershoot and rig walkers from River2Sea, you can use umbrella rigs in the opens, so it will be different!!!

Home then Icast

We flew home on the 4th for a few days to check the house and get a little grounded. TJ has all “new”toys to play with and it’s nice to sleep in our own bed! Next week I’m off to Icast to work for River2Sea and check out all the new fishing products. The bad thing is that it’s in Florida and not Vegas, but the eastern guys like it. Then we will be off to St Clair for a northern open and then to Lacrosse for an Everstart. Whenever I’m in a fishing slump, I’ve always had to keep fishing to get out of it! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer like us!!!
