ABA at Roosie

Fished the ABA tourney at Roosevelt this weekend with partner, Steve M. It was some tough fishing, but we ended up in 3rd place. We started with R2S tango props on top and caught a few, but small ones. We then moved out structure and started to catch quite a few on dropshots in 30- 50 feet. Ended up with just under 10lbs and had a great time. Now I’m packing for the last big tournament of the year on Mead. Can’t wait to get back up there and redeem myself from the...

US Open final

I had the worst open that I’ve had in a decade, but it wasn’t from lack of effort. I spent 5 days of practice, and caught some of the biggest fish that I’ve ever caught in Lake Mead! I really wanted to win a 3rd Open, and fished like that. I didn’t fish my usual areas that have been so consistent over the years, instead fished way up the Overton where i caught a 5 and a few 4’s. Needless to say, they didn’t bite, and I just scrached a small limit each day. Looking back, I would have done the same thing, because they were the fish to win. I’ll be back in 3 weeks for the ABA championship, so I’ll get another crack at...

So you wanna be a bass pro?

I packed everything we own (we are not taking the motorhome to AZ) and headed west towards Phoenix, Vegas, and the US Open. About 6 hours into my drive, in a downpour, my transmission blew up and I was stranded in MO! After AAA towed my truck and boat to West Bros Dodge, they confirmed that and said the transmissions will be backordered for 3 to 5 business days AFTER the holiday. That would take me almost to the tournament, so I had to punt. A great salesman named Chris hunted high and low for a truck that I could buy and trade mine. He finally found a 3/4 ton( which I needed and wanted) in Kentucky, and took his wife (on her birthday!) and drove all night to get it. I got a motel, and at 3 the next day, i started to transfer all my stuff to a new truck! Drove 22 hours straight back to Phoenix, and here I am, packing for the US Open. Leaving tomorrow am, and can’t wait! Thanks to Chris, if you ever need a truck in Missouri, and my wife, for letting me trade in, and now I’m gonna get back to...
