Power-Pole Slam / Lake Okeechobee – Final

johnmurray-powerpoleslam2012_1 Another close call! After you make the top 50, you want to make sure not to finish 50th, because that is only $5 grand not $10,000. So,I went back to south bay, and flipped around about 30 local boats. At 11, I only had one 3.5lber. At 2pm, I only had four for about 6lbs! About 2:30, most of the other boats left, and I stuck one about 5,5 lbs, and new I wouldn’t be getting 50th. I ended up 44th, and was happy to milk a good finish out of an unpopular area. johnmurray-powerpoleslam2012_2 I fished the same patterns as Ish who won, but didn’t find the best areas. I used an Ardent Elite Edge reel on a 8 foot Powell punchin rod, with 60lb braid and the Medlock jig with a wave crawdude. It was a slow bite for me, but the three fish over 5 saved the day.
